Building AI confidence, responsibility and readiness across The University of Alabama
Through the Office of Teaching Innovation and Digital Education, UA is raising the standard for the use of artificial intelligence. We’re among the first in the nation to prepare our faculty, staff and students to be effective leaders in AI use.
The UA AI Experience is a three-hour, online micro-course that establishes a foundation of AI literacy across the UA community.
Why the UA AI Experience Matters
By establishing a standard of excellence for AI use, UA is positioning itself as a national leader in responsible, human-centered AI preparedness. Using a 4D framework (Discern, Direct, Double-check, Defend), the AI Experience gives participants practical knowledge and skills that can be applied confidently in any role or context.

- Develop effective prompting strategies
- Use AI tools ethically and responsibly
- Protect data, privacy and academic integrity
- Employ critical thinking and judgment
COURSE OVERVIEW
The UA AI Experience is a free, practical learning experience designed for students, faculty and staff. Powered by UA Online, developers of several nationally ranked programs, the UA AI Experience combines cutting-edge instructional technology with best practices to build lasting capacity for navigating the Age of Intelligence.

For the Entire UA Community
Every member of the UA community will be encouraged to complete the UA AI Experience during Fall 2026. Participants will begin with four shared foundational modules, then choose one practical application module aligned with their role at the University.
